Deskercises

As an employer, it is your duty to protect your employees from developing back pain through work, by managing the risks in your workplace.

Jobs that require employees to sit and work at a desk can seem less risky in regards to injury, however this is not the case. Sitting down for too long can cause strain on our muscles, joints and bones. Aches and pains can affect productivity in the short term but could also lead to long-term problems such as musculoskeletal disorders amongst your workforce which is likely to result in increased absences. Encourage your employees to take breaks from sitting and try some exercises to ease pains and prevent long-term injuries.

We have put together some simple ‘Deskercises’ for businesses who require employees to work from a desk. Short-term aches and pain can lead to more complicated issues down the line. Encouraging employees to look after their back health could prevent the likes of musculoskeletal disorders from occurring.

When possible you should eliminate activities that could lead to back pain or if they cannot be avoided, you should implement control measures to reduce the risk.
