ELearning – An efficient and effective way to upskill on health and safety

Wednesday August 4, 2021

While much of the world seemed to move online when the pandemic struck, we had actually been offering a wide range of eLearning courses well before then. These complement all the physical and administrative services that we offer. If you haven’t tried them already, you will find them a surprisingly effective way to up your health and safety game and enjoy all the benefits that come with that. So let’s take a closer look at how they work.

What are our Health and Safety eLearning courses?

We offer a library of eLearning health and safety courses on our video platform. We’ll tailor access to your needs and then you and relevant members of your team can access the courses you need, covering all things health and safety, from risk assessments to lone working.

The powerful platform allows your staff to be in full control, starting, stopping and resuming as necessary. This means that they can achieve the right balance between their day job and the additional learning that their duties require. Our system can even chase them up if they are not getting through an eLearning course quickly enough.

They are accredited courses – CPD approved and authorised by governing bodies – so meet your compliance requirements.

It is as simple as that.

What are the benefits of eLearning?

ELearning comes with a host of benefits aside from the necessary health and safety compliance aspect.

Boosting employee satisfaction – Nowadays, employees are keen to learn and improve themselves. Learning opportunities are a valuable perk to any job. An ILX Group survey found that more than half of HR managers felt ongoing eLearning directly improved staff morale, satisfaction and retention.

Improved productivity – Research from IBM in America identified that for each dollar invested in eLearning there was a $30 enhancement of productivity. Moreover, in a separate survey, nearly three quarters of businesses thought online learning was an important element of their competitive advantage.

Better learning outcomes – The Research Institute of America found that retention from eLearning ranges between 25% – 60% compared to just 8% – 10% from in person learning. The Journal of Applied Psychology suggests micro learning (which can be done well through eLearning) is 17% more effective as a technique than normal learning.

Scalability and efficiency – Rather than having to organise repeat courses or have people offsite for a half day or full day, eLearning allows your relevant staff to access the courses as and when they need to – and no travel time to boot. It means they are convenient as well as cost effective.

A safer workplace – Health and safety compliance is one thing, but of course the ultimate goal of health and safety processes is to keep people safe. Having an eLearning strategy which gives ready access to all the skills and knowledge that your team need is a big step in the right direction to achieving this.
